Stream Voice – The Community Enviro Hub Mural Project
The Community Enviro Hub
corner Elmdon Street and Watchfield Close
Māngere
On Wednesday mornings at the Māngere Town Centre library a group of locals meet each week to explore creativity, the sessions are run by Māpura Studios tutors who encourage individuals to develop their own ideas and style.
We have partnered with the Te Ara-rata Stream Team to create a mural for the Enviro Hub container.
This project is ongoing and is generated entirely by the artists of the Māpura Māngere Studios.

The Mangere EnviroHub is a property leased for 3 years by I Am Mangere.
Community food gardens, composting, and temporary meeting, cooking and storage places are in the plans.
The property is on the corner of Elmdon Street and Watchfield Close, and one side is on the stream esplanade boundary.

Te Ara-rata Stream Team
The little stream that could – What?
flood 198 homes?
be the green heart of Māngere?
The first was proved true on 27 January.
The second we have to work for!
Te Ara-rata Stream Team is a small volunteer group that has planted and cleaned the stream banks for 20 years
– but now the plans for changing its floodplain are on the front burner, and government should not be the only chef
– our community needs an informed voice,
and the Stream Team works hard to inform local people of the best ingredients for a biodiverse, flood-mitigating floodplain growing food, forests and wetlands that will serve our children well.
