About Leonie:
I am Leonie Brunt an Auckland based poet with Samoan heritage, with my late grandfather being from Alepata. I regularly gain insights from reading the writing of Yayoi Kusama and the late Mattie Stepanek.
For me poetry is a great form of written expression, as it allows for various topics to be explored broadly while still maintaining depth succinctly. Life experiences and nature are common themes of my own poetry. I can often only access many natural environments with my imagination, rather than physically after being born with Spastic Quadriplegia Cerebral Palsy ( CP). which affects all my limbs impacting my mobility.
This life event is where the idea for my debut poetry book Touching Things in Time originated. I am also a keen artist and enjoy creating mixed media collage works from my digital and original art
