IHC Art Awards 2019
Thursday 5th September 2019
The IHC Art Awards provides artists with an intellectual disability the opportunity to have their talent recognised, their voices heard and to sell their work. It highlights the talent and achievements of people with intellectual disabilities.
A massive congratulations to Māpura Studio’s Michael Nathan, who won the prestigious first prize at the 2019 IHC Art Awards last night in Wellington. Michael knew he had won a prize, as he was flown down to the awards, but only knew he had won first prize when the overall winner was announced.
Māpura had 15 semi-finalists in the 2019 IHC top 100 this year, and 7 finalists in the top 30.The standard of work is absolutely outstanding and we congratulate all the artists who entered. The final 30 are selected from around 500 entries nationwide, so it is fantastic for the Artists and Māpura Studios.
The Highly Commended and winning artworks were auctioned off in a Live Auction on the night of the Awards Event 5th September, and the other finalists’ artworks were sold in the Silent Auction
