Carer of the Month – March 2025
Jake Dulan
Carers are the unsung heroes who provide friendship and support to those in need. They help people be as independent, healthy and as well as possible.
Carers play a very important role in making society stronger – so we’re singing their praises with the Carer of the Month.
For the month of March, Māpura Studios would like to acknowledge Jake Dulan as an outstanding carer for artist Johnny Woodward.
Jake has been working with Johnny for a year through Spectrum Care and they keep really busy.
On Mondays, they go to a music class. On Tuesday and Wednesday mornings, Jake accompanies Johhny at visual art classes in our Morningside studio. Johnny’s artworks are distinctive; he captures his environment and observations in a focussed yet naïve way. He has a wonderful colour sense (see below artworks).

On Tuesday afternoons, they attend CrossFit. Thursdays, they go to a dance class. On Fridays, Jake and Johnny go to Twin Vines, Spectrum Care’s vocational centre, where Johnny attends lectures, does karaoke (he’s a keen singer) and various other activities.
On the weekends, Johnny goes to his family home and Jake spends time with his family.
Thanks you for your patience, understanding and empathy Jake.
You truly deserve to be Carer of the Month!
