Leonie enjoys learning new skills, connecting with people and seeking advice from Māpura tutors. She also enjoys writing poetry.
“Mapura is a creative space for people of mixed ability to hone their skills”, says Leonie.
Leonie Brunt has been attending Studio Practice class at Māpura Studios for about 14 months. She likes painting on canvas and likes producing works for her nephews and family. Leonie draws images from her mind, and writes words onto the artwork.
Studio Practice is aimed at our more experienced, long-term artists. They work in a self-directed manner, identifying and developing ideas of their own choosing; they are encouraged to gather resources and undertake simple research towards their work. Many of the artists become very enthused about this – and are dedicated in their research, exploring new ideas and ways of working not only in the studio but at home.
