Allyson Hamblett interviews fellow artist
Nick Lamb
Nick has been in Māpura for about 6 months. He loves coming here.
“Māpura is so fun, and I like making art here,” says Nick.
Nick likes all kinds of art, and likes creating abstract art. His creative ideas just come from his mind.
Nick attends Studio Practice on Wednesday morning. The artists in this class are self-directed – you choose what you’d like to work on and how you’ll do it. If you have a brilliant idea for an artwork, then go for it!
Many of the Studio Practice artists are dedicated in researching themes for their work, they explore new ideas and ways of working, in the studio and at home. A lot of their work reflects their personal experiences and unique perceptions of life.
Nick is really good at finding videos on YouTube that the class will find interesting to watch. One was about conceptual art.

Nick entered the IHC art award but didn’t win.
“Maybe next year”, Nick says.
