Leading a Creative Life
Leading a Creative Life offers an exciting artistic journey to stroke survivors and people with brain injuries or similar effects. The environment is supportive and stimulating.
This programme focuses on visual art – particularly painting and drawing – with exploration and imagination encouraged.
You’ll be in a lively studio enjoying the companionship of others who have had a comparable life experience.
The class is open studio; you’ll be working on your own project or artwork, choosing the materials and content. The tutors will help you with techniques, when required, and support and encourage your artistic development.
Being part of a group sharing a common creative purpose can help stroke survivors and others with corresponding debilities regain motivation and greatly assist the rehabilitation process. Art making is known to boost mental and physical dexterity and coordination, as well as emotional and psychological stability.
Participants in this programme regularly develop their artistic skills to such a degree that they take part in significant Māpura Studios public art exhibitions.
Being part of a creative community, developing companionship with others and supporting one another, are central outcomes of Leading a Creative Life.
